Green Building

The Academical Village was designed as a celebration of the eco-conscious lifestyle, the principles of New Urbanism, and stewardship of the environment as an integral part of its community. Registered as a LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) project, The Village will be the first of this kind in the state of Florida, speaking directly to the triple bottom line: economic prosperity, environmental quality, and social equity. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized third-party green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The benefits of LEED-ND include healthier communities and happier citizens, a cleaner environment, and a more robust economy.

Project Highlights

The Academical Village at University Plaza will be located in Davie, Florida, on the NSU campus in the affluent western Broward County market. The Village will comprise 2,500,000 square feet of premier retail, residential, hotel, office, and medical space and will be located on thirty acres of property owned by University Associates, a partnership between The Brandon Company and NSU. The alliance between NSU, The Brandon Company and the Town of Davie provides all the elements to ensure a successful and streamlined project.
